Looking for a little help identifying the make of a German style Eb Tuba.
The only visible markings are the serial number: #534 #010157
And “8v” stamped on the bottom bow guard.

Hmmmm.... flat waterkey spring... round thumbring backing plate... diamond backing plates on the harness loop... the shape of the brace between the main tuning slide outer tube and bottom bow... and misc. other charactistics makes me think it's probably Bohland & Fuchs, Amati, or Alex.

The straight tubing on both sides of the 3 rotors in my eyes points towards a Cerveny design.

Cerveny used the same design for their high end models and for their cheaper models. Only they used a simpler technology and cheaper materials for the latters. THey also used fewer valves and omitted the nickel silver Kranz.

This present design has the straight tubing, where the 5th and 6th rotors could have been before the 3 main valves and where the 4th valve could have been downstreams.

If this tuba is from after the communist take over in 1947, then it likely was an Amati (or whatever stencil name the wholeseller or retailer might have wanted). During that period the Cerveny name was reserved for the better models with model numbers of 600 or above.

If it is older it likely was a Cerveny or a stencil thereof.

Anyway it looks like made at the Cerveny factory Königsgrätz in Bohemia.

Hello whattheduck,
you have a 1950s to early 1960s Amati Eb Modell 641. After the mid 1960s the bracing becomes less profiled, and the linkage a bit simpler in design.

Are you sure about 641 as the model #?

Amati used to have 3XX and 4XX numbers, whereas the Cerveny numbers wer 6XX and 7XX.

I don’t dispute the X41 numbering, but especially after comparing to the Amati 441 linked to below here, I rather would call the OP’s tuba an Amati 341, because it has none of the fancy elements connected with a higher numbering. Whereas it still has the same acoustical design as the more expensive versions.
