Holst First Suite for Brass Quintet

Has any one played the brass quintet version of the Holst "First Suite for Military Band"? I think the arranger is Begler.
Does it REALLY work in the quintet medium, or is it just a way for quintets to play the notes, and pretend they are in band?
How does it compare to the Second Suite transcription?

I think the First Suite works, but it is different. Do not go in excpecting it to be the Concert Band version! You will be dissappointed!
There are 2 versions of the Second Suite. One by Sabourin and published by Tapestry Brass and another version by Nowak and published by Music Express. Maybe more, but that is all I happen to have on my website.
If you are looking for more Tuba related version, Cimarron Music publishes a Quartet and Tuba Ensemble (3 Euphs and 3 Tubas) version of the first movement from the Second Suite. Bith were arranged by David Werden.

A lot of music that we're used to hearing is just too thin for five voices--and the Holst is one of those things. My ears really miss the woodwinds. It reminds me of someone trying to take a Carmen Dragon orchestration and set it for SATB a capella voices.
OTOH, the Moorside Suite might work for quintet--is there an arrangement available?

Anything for domestic tranquility. The wife plays flute and loves to play piccolo.
Which reminds me that an arrangement of "The Planets" has been written for flute quartet. I've heard it played.
It's somehow just not the same...
