Large MP for King 2341

Post by Liberty Mo »

Has anyone found success with a large mouthpiece for the King 2341? I have not been happy with a traditional Helleberg results and really don’t have access to a sampling of mouthpieces to try. Any thoughts on a Laskey 30H, PT-50, or anyone using a G&W MP? The archives seem to show a preference towards the Helleberg, but I am not sold.

I've used a Rudy Meinl 10 for a while, and it works pretty well if you want a deep tone. I've used a PT-88 with it, too, but the tone is much brighter than the RM 10.

I've had good response from a Mike Finn 3H on my King 1241. I really didn't appreciate the difference a mouthpiece could make until I tried this piece. It helped me increase my range and the volume with some nice colors to the tone.

This mouthpiece has a helleberg shape, but increased mass and as I recall a larger diameter bowl. I understand it is very similar to the Laskey 30H.

I play a VERY old King, that is remarkably like the new King. I went from a PT-88 to a G&W Bayamo and loved it. Now I use the G&W Alan Baer signature model (in Titanium) and love it even more. At the Army conference I tried my Stainless Bayamo in a King 2341 and liked that, but I liked the Titanium Bayamo even better - (this was before the AB model came out)

i use a regular conn-helleburg
i guess you could consider that large
however, i will be opting for a mouthpiece with a wider rim and i might experiment w/ different cup cores.

You might try a Tilz M0.
