Opinions of Melton 2040 E-flat tuba

I have been told that an E-flat or F tuba produces a smoother and warmer sound with rotary valves. I don't know whether I believe that statement or not, but it got me interested in the Melton 2040. How does it compare to other E-flats like the Besson 983 or the Willson? How does it play? What does it sound like? Is the low register good? How about pitch? And do you think the statement about rotary vs. piston valves on a small tuba is valid?

Thanks.
