I have a 1926 conn eb 2j. I am thinking of doing a full overhaul on it. Would it be better to rebuild my 2j or get a wessex eb?

3 vs 4 is a non issue for me. I like my conn but as it is an older horn it needs work. In looking at costs, rebuilding or wessex new is about the same

I have restored old horns and purchased new. I'm a fan of Wessex instruments. With that said, it depends on the cost first and what you want to end up with. If you are looking at under $1000 in repairs and you love the old Conn, then go for it knowing you will never get your money back when you sell it (that's why you have to love the horn). A new Wessex will likely give you a 4th valve and better intonation. It will likely cost $3000 or more. You will likely get 2/3 of your money back if you sell it. I have an old Martin 3 valve (which I restored) and a modern 4 valve Kanstul. I love the old Martin, but the Kanstul is my go to horn.
