Just curious on how far you guys prefer your mouthpieces in the tuba. Also wondering of any potential problems you notice with a mouthpiece that only goes in say 3/4"?

It's really hard to know anything about how a mouthpiece's insertion depth will effect the horn as that is not really much of a factor. The important measurement, though there is debate about how important it is, is taken from the end of the mouthpiece to the start of the leadpipe within the receiver (often called the "gap"). Depending on the length of the receiver and how it's taper and the taper of the mouthpiece's shank line up, and how far into the receiver the leadpipe goes, it's possible to have a mouthpiece with all kinds of different effects based off of the manufacturer's idea of the given measurements would be.

Well... if the mp shank is too small it will fall out.
That is all.
