Bundy sousaphones

Post by timayer »

Hi all,

I ran into a Bundy sousa the other day. Appears to be Eb. I looked at the discussions here about them, and there didn't seem to be a consensus as to whether they were made in Elkhart or in Europe. For what it's worth, this one was stamped "Western Germany" right below the bell joint. Which assumes the body and bell came together originally.

Anyway. The point here is that I'm interested in it, but it doesn't have a neck or bit. I'm not going to buy it without being able to play it first. And my interest is much less if it's going to remain unplayable for the foreseeable future.

What modern necks work on these horns? Or should I get some calipers in and measure the receiver and post that?

Thanks!
