I just purchased a Besson three valve compensating euphonium off of eBay with intent of getting playable and then re-sell. I then remembered that the older Bessons use the medium/European shank mouthpieces. I began thinking on how to get a mouthpiece for this horn and still keep my expenses down. I then remembered something. Last month I ordered 5 Chinese tuba mouthpieces. When I received the mouthpieces, the box used by the seller was originally intended to hold a half dozen mouthpieces. The seller threw in a euphonium mouthpiece to fill the last spot in the box. I did some research online and determined that the end of medium shank mouthpieces measure about .470". I measured the free mouthpiece - .470". Sometimes it helps to be lucky.
