I have a used Cerveny Arion that I am trying out and have a question about it. On the end of the leadpipe, there are thee words engraved, "Made in Czech, Republic". However, I can not find a serial number anyway to date the instrument. The rotary valve linkages are not the miniball type, as they have knurled rings and screws in both ends of the linkages for adjustment purposes I assume. Are the Cerveny tubas like Rudys that don't have serial numbers?? Any help in dating this instrument would be appreciated. Tuba plays well and is a great size for my quintet, with a larger sound than I expected.
Thanks,
Rick

Re: Cerveny 683 Arion Question
It has to be newer than 1993. The Czech Republic did not exist before Jan 1, 1993. Previous, it was Czechoslovakia and would either have the word spelled out completely or just 'Czech." It is not uncommon for Cerveny tubas to not have serial numbers.rperrym wrote:I have a used Cerveny Arion that I am trying out and have a question about it. Here is a picture of what is listed as a new Cerveny 383:

Check the underside of the paddle bar. Might be a s/n there.
