It's been a while since I've posted so with that...
For anyone who missed the NYP Mahler 5 with Jaap that was on live on Facebook, here is your chance to see it before the NYP pulls it down.

Jaap is our new Music Director designate and will officially start next year. He is working with us a bit this year and will be conducting on the Asia tour in the spring. This is from a couple weeks ago right in the middle of a Star Wars blowfest. Movies 4,5,6,7... we finally finished last night.

On other fronts...
Many have been asking about openings for schools where I am teaching.
YES.. there are openings!
JUILLIARD will have 2 openings as we now have 4! and 3 will graduate. We usually have 3 total.
MANNES will have 1 opening as the both students have returned to do graduate degrees.
RUTGERS will have 3 opening, one grad. and two undergrad, at least this is what I envision.
The important part.. $$$$ Yes, there are definitely scholarships available at ALL the schools.

The audition dates are posted on each schools web sites.
Audition requirements are also posted. It's basically: solo work, etude, excerpts. lol.. what else do we do.. besides count rest!

That's the most enthusiasm I've seen the NYP show in a while (video only, of course, since I've never seen them live). They really threw themselves into the performance.

Then again, I never see the vast majority of their work . . .

That's great! I love Mahler 5 - and will never get to play since I'm a eupher.
