I hope the frown is just about his Facebook page not being available...

...but I don't think that's what you mean. :(

Oh no! What happened? (The FB link above appears broken to me.)

I met Michael around this time last year, when he had bought my old Rudy Meinl. IIRC, he contacted me out of the blue, because he knew that I was considering something smaller than my Willson, and remembered that I had spoken fondly about the Rudy. But in the friendly "maybe I can help" kind of way, not the "do you want to buy the thing I'm selling" kind of way.

A very nice person, and I am sorry for the loss for his family and friends. :(

I also own one of his former tubas, a 3/4 CC four piston Weril. It was a nice friendly transaction and he packed the horn beautifully before shipping. Now, I'll think kindly of him whenever I play the instrument. RIP, Michael.

I’m still very saddened by this news. Michael was a true friend and brethren to the tuba and was always passionate about music. I’ll miss his gentle and kind soul very much and recall many conversations about life and music. Rest In Peace my friend.

The message about Michael’s death hit me very hard. He had been very supportive about several projects of mine as a user of them as well as a provider of knowledge on religious, cultural, and political matters in an English-spoken context, where I have no first hand experience.

I definitely had counted on Michael surviving me by decades, so I feel very empty now.

And then the loss for his family is bigger by dimensions.Very hard for others to imagine.

Tank you, Michael!
