My First Concert: EPIC FAIL!!!!!

My first public concert and I gave it my best. I really did. How could things have gone so terribly wrong???
A beautiful fall day. The slightest hint of a cool breeze in the air but still warm enough to leave the screen door open. As I gazed at the fall colors a small sports car pulled up across the street. Deep, punchy sounds were emanating from the stereo.
Normally, I don't play with the doors and windows open but I figure this is no mere coincidence. A kindred soul - someone who really appreciates the sonic underworld - has shown up right outside MY door! So I positioned myself and the Mammoth near the screen door to provide some sonic reinforcement.
I played a couple of arpeggios in Bb and just as I was trying to decide whether to move up chromatically or cycle in fifths, the guy DROVE AWAY!!!!
So a question for you pros... Should I have used a 4/4 tuba as not to scare the guy?
