3450 vs 3225 (Ursus)?

Postby MikeMilnarik » Thu Nov 09, 2017 7:49 pm

Hello Everyone!

If this topic has already been discussed and you've got a link, please post it. Did a search and went through a bunch of posts that had both of these in it, but didn't find a direct comparison.

I know that the 3450 and the 3225 start out with the same bore, with the 3225 increasing; 3225 bell is 1/2" bigger than the 3450; and they are both the same height.

Anyone play both? Back to back? Thoughts?

Thanks!

I haven't played an Ursus, but I had a feeling that might be the case.

Thank you, bort!

I have trouble playing the 3225 (well warmed-up) up to pitch, unless I use one of the more conservative-size contrabass mouthpieces (Helleberg II, etc.)

I'm sure they're set up beautifully for their designer. I get 439 (again: warm tuba) pretty consistently with my regular mpc.

It's comparable to a pt606 in size.
