I apologize, I know this has been mentioned in several threads, but I cannot locate the info in the search.
What horn did Bill Bell use for the recording? Was it one of those Full circle eefer Sousaphones or something else?

So Tubby the Tuba was really Suzie the Sousa? Does that make her a tuba impersonator? Another of my childhood myths exploded...sigh!

I have read before he recorded most of his solos on an E-flat four valve King sousaphone.
Makes sense. He had an endorsement deal with King during his prime recording years I believe.

First Division Band Method had a very similar, if not identical, picture of Mr Bell, as well as with his 4 rotor King.
Funny how he did just fine with only 4 valves...
