Test diving a new one. Forgot how easy these play. Still has made in Japan stamped by serial # for all you doubters. Wrist is at a weird angle, as wade has discussed . Any gigbag or mod suggestions? Venting valves and Saturn water key already suggested. Wish there was a way to put backpack straps on the hard case, fits so perfectly and great protection. Ideas welcome.

Big second on this. I never understood the engineering behind it (maybe it's a top-action cluster, "adapted" for side-action use) or for that matter, why it was duplicated on the new Wessex E flat model.

Cronkhite bags for these are super compact and easy to move around.

Can you get a full size folder in the pouch?

I am at least half conn-vinced that the Conn frankentuba that Chuck Dallenbach uses now, uses the same Yamaha valve set, and all the tubing has been re-wrapped for a better playing position.
That same type of thing could probably be done on an the F. I do think the bugle is some kind of conn/olds type thing, and with the King valves being about the same bore, I think the only up side to doing it this way was really the porting arrangement.
