The is the 46-minute version that I excerpted in an earlier post. The great John Fletcher is introduced here by the great Harvey Phillips - 2 of the icons of the tuba world. The recording I purchased was incomplete (side 2 of the tape was blank), but there is a lot of fine material here! I suspect side 2 was not as long as 1, so this may be most of the content.

John was a fine gentleman, a musician of the highest order and a fabulous tubist. There are solo recordings yet we should listen to as many of the Phillip Jones Brass Ensemble recordings as possible (35-37) to fully benefit from and enjoy his artistry. We had the PJBE in Munich annually; always an event of significance.
John had a terrific sense of humor, was always good for a surprise, was an avid model train builder...
During one of the PJBE concerts here, a string broke an Ifor James' horn valve. While he was off stage effecting a repair John sat down front-and-center and played two movements from a Bach Cello Suite.
John worked hard and lived hard. For the lecture at the first internation tuba and Euphonium Conference at IU he traveled from and back to London within forty-eight hours. It was great loss to the music world when he passed away at age forty-five.

This was wonderful to listen to. John Fletcher is one of my all-time favorite tuba players and a number recordings of PJBE and LSO with him on tuba are my go-to recordings for reference.
