Xmas quintet music emergency!!!

Post by Jobey Wilson »

Hi everyone,
Quintet music emergency, if anyone can help. Need horn parts to Jangle Bells by James Pierpoint/Anthony DiLorenzo and Christmas Time is Here by Vince Guaraldi/Ed Hirschman. Parts went missing today, and we perform Saturday. If anyone has these parts and could please send me a scan, be eternally grateful! jobeywilsonii@aol.com" target="_blank

Yes, Kory...just bought it there two weeks ago...we're hoping one of our horn player's students accidentally grabbed it off the stand at lessons today, but he can't reach the kid.

Correct title should read:

CHRISTMAS quintet music emergency!!!

Even a professional should know that.

The obvious question is - if you bought pdf's can't you reprint them?

With all due respect, just because 'Xmas' has been used for so long doesn't make it right. We should keep Christ in Christmas.

Actually....

"Some people dislike the use of Xmas for Christmas, saying it is wrong to take Christ out of Christmas. Really, they are the ones who are wrong, for the X in Xmas stands for the Greek letter chi that looks just like our X and is the first letter of Christ in Greek. For many centuries this letter has been used as an abbreviation and a symbol for Christ."

I think this had gotten a little off topic the debate over this subject should be taken elsewhere this thread is about helping find some music.

Xmas is just fine and has been in common use since at least the 1940s.
it was in common usage way before that, in Victorian writing the term Xtian was a common abbreviation for Christian, with reference to the ancient Chi Rho symbol from the early church

"t-mas" is better because a "t" looks like a little cross.
Please use this instead of disrespectful Xmas, if you must abbrev.
amen.

By the way, these are really cool pieces, and I highly suggest everybody at them to their quintet repertoire! Xmas time is here is a cool bossa nova, and Jangle Bells kind of sounds like it's straight out of nightmare before Xmas. ( by the way, if your faith is so fragile that you need to attack me for using Xmas, you have much larger issues! Leave me and my professionalism out of that conversation! If you really want to include me on that, come to Boston and let's have a chat!)

Our trumpet player bought originals, not the PDFs download. Our horn Player is currently fabricating new parts from our score. You all should've heard him reading out of the C scores last night... serious transposing skills!

I have declared war on Christmas. I also declared war on Xmas.

I issued an ultimatum to halloween. There has been no response, so I will probably have to declare war on it as well.

Winter solstice, although not a holiday, is definitely a bad hombre. Been giving me some problems lately. We're not yet at war, but I would say it's more like a cold war.

I have had some dealings with Ed Hirschman and he is a good guy. Explain your problem and I would not be surprised if he could help. ed@artofsoundmusic.com" target="_blank
