So what the heck makes certain tubas "Professional" models, anyway?

"What's in a name...?
Actually, manufacturers can name an instrument anything they choose. I guess it would be a little ridiculous to use the "professional" term for an instrument which is obviously a beginner instrument. In my opinion, just because it says professional doesn't mean most professionals would choose to use it.
