The community band I founded a little over four years ago holds up very well to the highs and lows of membership. We are a not-for-profit and spend a lot of time doing community events. One of the things that has really been a great advertising tools is our 10 piece Dixieland ensemble. The Dixie group plays for many not-for-profit fundraisers and gets a lot of exposure for the larger community band. We lose a few and we gain a few. There is a core group that has been with us almost since the formation. We have a nine member board of directors. Most of all, we try to keep it fun. Visit our web site at http://www.olddamband.com

There is also a great community music web site at http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/c- ... d=69777241

There's an excellent community music list available at the URL below. Why not join up and see what ideas they have?
