I think we need a new poem about the tuba!Hi again, everyone - while doing research on the early history of the Sousaphone, I came across a long forgotten poem about the tuba. Give it a look here: https://tubapastor.blogspot.com/2017/12/long-forgotten-poem-about-tuba.html
I'm confident we can do better! Any poets out there willing to sing the praises of our beloved instrument in a fresh new way?! Go for it! Played an F. E. Olds 4-valve BBb in high school (late '70s)
Led the USC Trojan Marching Band tuba section (early '80s) Now playing an F. Schmidt (=VMI) 3301 and goofing around on a 1927 Pan American 64K Sousaphone Grand

Tubas are fun to play oy! Tuba Tuba Ya! A fine example of a Haiku right there...
Re: I think we need a new poem about the tuba!I think I’d have to go to Cuba
To see a trumpet even rival a tuba A horn with mouthpiece thus impress’d With air of player’s swelling breast A horn who’s bass line has been lain Below the treble’s sweet refrain Tubas are played by fools like me But almost all will sure agree! Knowledge is knowing a tomato is a fruit. Wisdom is not putting it in a fruit salad.

Who made a tuba from a bucket He took it to band They gave him the hand ............................................... Tubas

Re: I think we need a new poem about the tuba! This season a Saviour was born
To the toots of a big old bass horn Played by a shepherd To fend off a leopard But this tale is really not sworn! Merry Christmas!
Re: I think we need a new poem about the tuba!My tuba is a Meinl-Weston.
Others think it's not the best one. It may play out of tune. Though surely quite soon I'll look through some others and test one. If I then look at a Miraphone, I may not even hear a tone. The elephant room - It goes BOOM! BOOM! BOOM! I won't whether it was blown. Next on the list: Yamaha Motorcycle or oom-pah? Yes, they're quite shiny Though their sound seems quite whiny. When you pay, though, they will say, "aha!"
Re: I think we need a new poem about the tuba!I seem to have a date with a copy of Cyrano Debergerac...
"Sir, your tuba is rather large!" etc. Ol' et sock & tuba
Re: I think we need a new poem about the tuba!
Indeed, it is large; but I have never heard it called a tuba. Mark Wiseman

Re: I think we need a new poem about the tuba! There once was a man from Nantucket
Who made a tuba from a bucket He took it to band They gave him the hand He packed up, decided to truck it. There once was a tuba named king the bell of which really could ring 'twas large and was loud its owner was proud And with wind he taught it to sing There once was a tuba called York that was played by somewhat of a dork His wife thought it funny he spent all the money and could not get a new spit cork There once was a tuba of brass that was left outside in the grass without any reasons it weathered the seasons more eyesore than pain in the *** Tubas
