I've got a video clip of a famous brass player saying that embouchure excercoses are a waste of time. After that a company used his name in their advertising. What a mess that was!

This is one of those things that illustrates "your mileage may vary."
Whatever works, do it!!
There are some very famous horn players who insist that free buzzing is the key to endurance and range. However I know some excellent players, who have no trouble with either endurance or range, who cannot free buzz their way out of a tin shack.
To date I haven't been disciplined enough with it to find out if it helps me or not; I can easily free buzz the entire normal range of a tuba, but I max out at about 2nd line g in the treble clef, well below my horn range. I wear out in that range in a matter of seconds, so it might be to my advantage to put that on the "driving to work" menu of things to do.
YMMV,
MA

Thanks, Brian, for the clip. Before I ever heard Mr. Jacobs' take on the subject, I had already believed this.
