There have been many comments made about older Martin tubas on this board. I owned a 6/4 sized 3 valve Martin. I would describe it as a better Conn 20J. It's similar in size, with every bit the big, round, American sound, but better intonation. It could shake the rafters if you wanted it to. I think it's got too much breadth of sound to be a good all around horn, but it was perfect for the large venue or outdoor playing that I do.

Just curious, do the two Martin instruments share the sousaphone bell, or the recording bell?
