At the concert’s opening, CSO president Jonathan Martin announced a newly-endowed chair. Ashley and Barbara Ford have endowed the principal tuba chair, currently held by Christopher Olka.
Congratulations!

Long overdue. But I'm glad.

Thanks for the well wishes, guys! It’s been a dream as long as I’ve had an orchestra job. The Cincinnati Symphony has done a tremendous job as financial stewards of the orchestra. Almost every chair in the orchestra is endowed and the last I heard, we were ranked around #5 amongst American orchestras in regards to financial holdings. I believe we are one slot above NYP currently.
It’s a great feeling to be appreciated so much by the community and not have to worry about a strike or lockout every few years. I’m truly blessed to be a part of the organization.
