Thanks for posting this. Glad I'm not the only one going for a lush, overtone-laden sonic presentation.

And not just on tuba. In clarinet performance, a dark, smooth, covered tone is in vogue. I can't think of a more boring instrument to listen to than a clarinet voiced this way. Gimme overtones, bouncing all over the place, floating in the air like cigarette smoke rising toward a stage light.

I saw a main tuning slide trigger being worked pretty frequently. Starting to think that’s the way to go. Find a horn with great resonance and mechanically fix the length.

It’s called confirmation bias. It’s why science has double blind studies and peer review in an attempt to get the truth.
