remember the sizzle

Well I can't remember the post but the few folks that took part with comments will.
Please direct me to it. About 6 months or a year ago.
The post had to do with someone attending a workshop or lessen with a major player (could have been a trombonist) that mentioned developing a sizzle/crackle/sparkle in the tone - which in my mind the discussion had to do with resonance/overtones. Maybe it had to do with some players having to dark of a sound and what this resulted in out in the house. I want to hear different and unique ways players describe this edge on the tone.
Anyone remember related threads?
