So instead of making an F version of the 983, they came up with this. Sounds pretty good too.

Re: Eb fans: thoughts on new Besson 984 (?)
The change in the location of the valve block is a welcome improvement. I had owned a couple of the 983's and the valve block was so low that it adversely affected finger mobility (my hand therapist wife confirmed this). Besson has a front action F tuba. They made about ten of them, pitchy from some reports and a bit small. They are so rare that I couldn't even find an image of one on Google.

These have been out for a while. Notice the date on the video.

Smaller bell and improved location of the valve block. Some other minor stuff.

Trigger on first valve slide - mostly used with higher notes. As mentioned 15" bell and I don't think it is as tall as the 983.ken k wrote:what is the difference between this and the 983?

I have a 984 and it has a sweet sound - unanimous from all who play it or hear it.
The 984 seems to be Besson providing an F-like (solo) sound from an Eb.
