I'm now a bit confused. I was under the impression that Mr. Torchinsky's tuba was in the first batch of CC's made (with the downward facing 3rd valve tubing, 3 of which had the tubing rerouted upwards (work done by King I believe)). Yet the serial number listed on Vince's website is roughly 52,000 later than that first batch of Kings (looks to be 7 horns with sequential numbers) and is 2 numbers away from another CC rotary that is about 4-5 years newer than that first batch.

I remember hearing that King liked the idea of the rerouted 3rd tubing enough that they incorporated that in the 2nd and 3rd batches (4 tubas per batch I heard).

I'll check with Vince and see if I'm all mixed up.
