Practice mutes

Post by TheTuba »

Anybody know how to make a DIY practice mute for a miraphone 186?

OR

Anybody know inexpensive mutes under 200 dollars that are good?
I would put a good signature here, but i dont have one, so this will make do.

I do, do that, but I want a mute (not to use regularly) so I can practice without pissing people ( in general) off.
I would use it in warming up, early morning practice, and other scenarios.

Try Schlipf . Made near Salzburg and in various sizes. Not cheap but very good. I gave mine to my son because he lives in an apartment and not a house. It works.
Disagree strongly with the Pro's advice . It's a counsel of perfection and not very practical. Also, you'll find half an hour with a good practice mute is worth much , much more in time terms . It's a bit like runners practicing with auto tires tied to them. See what happens when you take the mute out when you next go to play.
