Bear Solo

Ok, how many of you have played this on your big horn? I have this coming up in next years cycle, and I remember learning it on CC 30 years ago, just curious?

I played it last year on a BMB 6/4 BBb, because that is what I had access to. Sounded like a big bear, not to be confused with a Baer.

I could very well imagine this played on a BAT or big-ish CC tuba. To me, it sounds better with a hint of strain. It shouldn't sound too pretty or too easy to play. I played it on a Besson 3+1 Eb, and I felt somewhat confined by it.

Adam Peck wrote:I've played it on huge 6/4 CC and 4/4 F. Both were fine. Whatever you can make it sound best on. Only tuba players in the audience will notice what key/size horn you use.

I've always liked it better on a bass, F/Eb.
