For articles about tuba specifically you can check out TubaNews or the T.U.B.A. website. I like reading www.trombone.org and Joe Alessi's personal website. There is a lot of good stuff out there. Doug Yeo also has a lot of good stuff, although you might have to pick and choose a bit there.

TubeNet is more of a current event, sell a tuba, buy a tuba, get a quick answer type of place. Occasionally someone pipes up with some excellent perspectives and those are the reads which personally make it worthwhile in my opinion.

Otherwise TubeNet represents a stream of collective conciousness among tubists of all flavors and levels of achievement.

Sadly I'm in the same boat as you and I don't seem to find much tuba-specific web pages like what your looking for. However, I would like add two more trombone sites to check out:

Jay Friedman's site talks more about specific playing details in the orchestral literature as well as other performance issues, while Matt Guilford's site has a lot of his own personal experiences that I find very good to know (especially from his university days). They both have some good articles in their archives (and Friedman usually includes audio files to listen to!). Hope this helps.

I finally remember a few more sites.

Go to the musician's part of this site, and click on a few of the pictures, most of them go to someone's site. If you haven't already, check out Jeff Funderburk's site too. He has a few articles on there.

Also, search for the "Dutch Tuba Site" on your favorite search, that is a link site to just about every page that is around for tuba and low brass in general. A lot of good stuff to be had on it. It'll take years before I actually get to every link.

Jim Self's site has a few articles and some great recordings and printed music.

For Orchestral Excerpts talk to the tuba professors at local universities, I know mine carries the "A List" around with him. As far as informational sites Jim Self's is good as well as tuba news
