I played a Berg briefly. It was quite nice. But, honestly, I prefer Miraphones.

So was there some purpose to your micturating on the excitement this man has for his brand new tuba?

This thread is not about you or me or anyone but him. It is not about your experience with this model of tuba; it is about his joy at receiving his new baby.

Nice work.

:?

Lets not degrade this thread into a shouting match. While people may have different opinions, that's the beauty of tubenet/internet, where you can speak what you want. Some people(s) opinions might be unpopular, but that does not mean you identify them by that opinion rather than their personality/expertise. I have made this mistake many times, and only recently have come to terms with myself on what I have done wrong.

Where was the shouting?
TheTuba wrote:While people may have different opinions...
You missed my point. I am not disagreeing with his opinion; in fact, I agree with him completely.

My point was that it is in pretty poor taste to come into a thread about the joy of a new purchase and crap on that with an opinion of any sort, whatsoever. It was wrong to do so. In essence he let the OP crow about his new horn and then said the equivalent of, "Yeah, whatever."
TheTuba wrote:... what I have done wrong.
I have not done anything wrong at all. If you think I did, you need to reread this whole thread. I am very happy for the OP. A thread like this is like announcing to your pals "IT'S A GIRL!" or "I bought a new car!"

A person with any sort of tact would never come into such a conversation unbidden to say that they preferred male offspring, or that the guy's new car had low JD Power ratings.

Say congratulations or don't say anything. This sort of garbage happens here all the time. I got sick of it and made a very pointed and short statement about it. Social skills *can* be practiced properly online in written form.

Goodnight, Raghul. :tuba:

Mr.elephant, I was talking more to greenbean than you, but now that I look at it, it does look that way

I actually chuckled when I read that. I don't think it was meant in a mean-spirited way at all, but merely a gentle dig at ren's earlier rant lambasting all Miraphones. Probably would have helped if greenbean had added a smile or laughing emoji:
I played a Berg briefly. It was quite nice. But, honestly, I prefer Miraphones. :lol
Sarcasm often doesn't come across well on the Interwebs, and can lead to misapprehending the other's attitude. Which i believe happened here.

Congratulations on your new tuba. Getting a new shiny is always fun. I've played several Bergs. They have all been ________ __________. But, honestly, I __________ ___________. Wessex does __________ ___________ and I will ___________ ___________ ___________ ___________. I prefer __________ ___________ ___________ ___________.

I hope this __________ __________ anyone.

Exactly. Sorry for coming across as rude or mean-spirited. I meant to say this:

>> I played a Berg briefly. It was quite nice. But, honestly, I prefer Miraphones. :P

It was a dig at the (IMO) silly posts that ren made about Miraphones. It is like having a bad experience with a Toyota and warning everyone that Toyotas are junk. He seemed overly bent on bashing Miras.

That said, some folks like Miraphones - great - while other like MW's, Kings, B&S, Hirsbrunner, Wessex - great, too. You should play what you like! I recently picked up a B&S 3301 and I LOVE it. That is what I will be playing...

Again, sorry for ruffling feathers here.

Open to requests for what material to play on a youtube video, I will not be noodling at length, I will work up a song as best I can. (NOT a vocalise)

I'll save my "review" sort of thing for Wessex if theres anything that stands out.

FYI my girlfriend has named the berg: "tuba gooding jr."

So that name will stand as these things are not up for debate :tuba: :D

every kopprasch etude at 200 bpm (to a sixteenth note)
OR, Czardes at 300 bpm (to a eighth note)

Doc wrote:If it is request hour, how about some big band, dixieland, or jazz standards? Play some tunes.
I agree. A Real Fake Book or other chord chart book of jazz standards is useful for working on lyrical playing, jazz style, playing from lead sheets and chord charts, and other gig-worthy skills.
