POLL - Which scenario does the TNFJ recommend?

Post by roweenie »

Going on a plane, logistics dictate these two options.

Please share your reasons, if you care to......

TheTuba wrote:cheap gig bag in a good case is way better than a good gig bag in a bad case

that's why one of them is a bag and the other is a case

Hmmm...I wasn't aware that the case designed by Mr. Baer was cheap....

Intentional, but not by choice, hence the poll.

The horn in the Cronkhite bag will fit in the Unitec case, but not in the Walt Johnson case.

In the Altieri bag, it will fit in either case.

As to the third choice, you are preaching to the choir - I've driven over 1,000 miles each way to avoid it, but as of yet there's no way to drive across the Atlantic.

As to the nature of the trip, I wouldn't go to the trouble of asking a question like this for hypothetical reasons.

The WJ is a 6/4 case, and it's mine, so if it gets damaged, I'll be the one tasked with fixing it  .
..the gig bag effectively fills up the extra space not taken up by the instrument.

I must say that the Jimbo idea is an original one that I hadn't thought of....

Honestly speaking, the horn will fit in the WJC with the Cronkhite bag, but it's a very tight fit, and must be finessed in.....my real concern with this scenario is with the knuckle-draggers at the TSA putting it back in the case correctly.
