My wife and I are big fans of April Winchell (http://www.aprilwinchell.com). She had a weekend radio show here in L.A. on KFI for a while, before they showed her the door in a rather abrupt fashion. Their loss, and ours.

Her website features a great blog, and an unbelievable collection of some truly heinous, humorous MP3s. When the bandwidth those files trash threatened to shut down her site, I offered to host them for free. Least I could do, seeing as most of my bandwidth goes unused every month, plus she's good peeps.

Tonight, my wife and I headed up to L.A.'s ACME Comedy Theater with some friends to see April as a panelist on J. Keith Van Straaten's live version of "What's My Line?" (http://www.jkeith.net/). Great panel - doesn't get much funnier than Greg Proops lit off his ***.

There were a couple guys from Dicker & Dickers of Beverly Hills (furriers, in honor of panelist Mink Stole), a guy who shoes horses (a farrier) and...

JIM SELF!!!

I about soiled myself when he walked out on stage. Of all the tuba players in all the gin joints! Len Wein ended up ferreting out Jim's true profession, and Jim brought down the house with a rousing rendition of the Clarinet Polka, played, as it should be, on the tuba!

Total coincidence, and Jim was quite surprised to see a former student there as well. He was kind enough to give me a copy of his latest album, hot off the presses - "Innerplay". I'm sure he'll have info on his website soon about the CD. Really great stuff.

Anyway, just thought I'd share my "celebrity tuba sighting". Just such a strange co-inkeedink...
