there is a page http://museum-markneukirchen.de/forum/portal.php" target="_blank" target="_blank" target="_blank were you could place any question regarding an instrument made in the Vogtland (Markneukirchen and Klingenthal) area, hence also your B&S PT 7. If you place your questions on the age of the tuba indivating the serial number (from the leadpipe „normally“) you normally get a quick feedback from one of the moderators having access to the production logs. Based on the number they could tell you the year, facility and person who made your instrument.

That's awesome, I'll have to give it a try. I don't speak much German, so this might be pretty interesting.... but as long as the model number and serial number are intelligible, maybe the point will get across.

your email on the museum web is perfect and well adressed in the „Blasinstrumente und ihre Hersteller section“. Normally Mario Weller is responding. He is master craftsmen with the Hoyer French Horn production and refers to the production log. (team code, production date, product descriptions, could also be somethimg like „12 b tubas...“ and finally serial number).

Also curious what the age is. I had an F-Tuba gold brass 6 valves (4+2) non perantuccied 17-21 mm bought non lacquered in West-Germany 1985 with a very low serial number labelled made in GDR at the leadpipe and a brass PT-3 CC also labelled Made in GDR. Both much lighter than the latter PT15 I had. Anyway, all gone for french horns since 2012 and BTW is is great fun to play Vaughn Willliams 2nd movement with an F Wagnertuba. The other movements also work nice but some notes need to be played an octave higher ( end of movements) or are very difficult , for me (line down in the beginning of 1st movement ).

Thanks Chris. I've talked to Bob Tucci about my tuba previously, and he did not have any record of it in his files. My understanding from the seller is that the tuba was probably built after 2000, purchased by a tuba player in Colombia, and several years ago it was bought by someone in Venezuela.

The PT7 had a pretty limited production run, so there's not too much mystery in the production date... but would still be interesting to know more about it!

My tuba has (legally) been granted asylum to reside in America.

Over 2 months later and STILL not 'fixed'? They sure are taking their sweet time.....
With that length of time, you'd think the horn is being econo-refurbished/overhauled. But a couple 'regular repairs' should not take nearly so long

Honestly, the tuba sat there for 6 weeks before it was touched. A miscommunication of some kind about what and when and all that.

At this point, I just don't care. I bought the tuba 4? 5? 6? months ago. I just want it fixed so I can finally play it.

The wait must be getting agonising! It only took 5 weeks to have my old King Monster completely rebuilt - including silver plating back in the 60's and that seemed like a long time.

Joe, I was actually wondering if the tuba was shipped back to Venezuela.

But thanks, to all... it will be done soon, I do believe that. I haven't owned a working tuba since May, so I am more than ready to get this fixed and move on with life. Not how I wanted all of this to go down... but when do we ever get to choose that!
