Guess: Who plays Bydlo?
Guess: Who plays Bydlo?
Before you watch this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g7xIiT5 ... e=youtu.be, guess who will play Bydlo: Alessi, Finlayson, Bollinger or Olka.
Then stick around for some incredible Prokofiev.

Great playing of course but an American "all-star" orchestra where none of the brass players (or at least low brass) are from the Chicago Symphony? That's like having an all-star baseball team in early 2000s with no New York Yankee player on the roster.

Hey, I was totally wrong. I guessed Mr. Alessi would want that gem, but it was fun anyway. I figured Olka would not want to ship a euph to play 16 bars, at least I had that right.

Hmm... I thought for sure that Chris Olka would be playing a Wessex French C for Pictures. I mean, the market was clamoring for a French C to become available so we wouldn't have to listen to that awful huge 6/4 CC sound anymore.

Why is the euph mouthpiece inserted so far?

The relative sizes of the mp shank and the receiver determine insertion depth. This mp is inserted at the observed depth because of this relationship.tubapix wrote:Why is the euph mouthpiece inserted so far?

I figured Alessi would not want anyone else playing a solo in the section but... my goodness he is a fine player. What's he playing, a Yamaha 321?
Kudos to Chris Olka, sounds great!
I agree with the comment about not having a single Chicago Brass player in the section. Kinda demotes the whole thing for me.

Beautiful playing! It makes me smile to see a yamaha 321. I see so many band directors that have to “upgrade” from a yamaha 321 to whatever “it” brand and model. These are great horns! I believe Norman Bolter recorded Mahler 7 on a Yamaha 321 and it sounds amazing!
