The best mouthpieces (ditch your 3-piece stainless...)

Post by TheDancingSousa »

Well, sorry everyone. Throw out your stainless steel pieces, cause that material didn't even get mentioned. Guess I'm a sucker.

My two favorites aren't stainless, but don't include the ones mentioned in the article either.

 That sounds like his B-29 is losing power.

The mouthpieces that Rex Conner designed were a copy of a Tommy Johnson mouthpiece and were produced on campus by the Physics Dept. The shank and cup were one-piece unpolished brass, with a screw-on stainless steel rim. They were all the same size, and I think the rim was all about not exposing the embouchure to the brass, being super clean, and very hard, making them resistant to dings.
