Cleaning up unlaquered brass

Post by paulver »

Question........

Although this is not about a tuba, I have a question about an unlaquered french horn. I assume that this topic has probably been covered several times on here, but I'd rather not spend the time searching though old posts to find them. This horn is a 1965, original hand made Carl Geyer. It's my daughter's, and she is noticing some "green" spots on the horn. We're not wanting to change to the appearance or the finish of it, but rather, just clean it up a bit. Get rid of those spots I mentioned, and get rid of the finger prints, etc. After cleaning it, what products do you suggest to maintain the "desired" look. She's extremely picky about what to do and what not to do.

Suggestions???
