Large Brass Ensemble Music?

Post by kprinz »

Anyone have suggestions for good online resources to find potential pieces for large brass ensemble. I'm looking for an online database of some sort to look through and find suggestions for music to order for the Brass Ensemble I conduct at my current position.

Thanks for any help!

Looking on YouTube, I came across this new post. It's a Nonet for brass. Check it out because the tuba playing is superb, just the right sound to suit my ears.

The player is Morris Kainuma, a real gentleman and one of the greats in the tuba world.

Are you able to define what you mean by large brass ensemble? Do you mean something along the lines of a just bigger than a sextet/septet... 10 piece ensemble like the Philip Jones Brass Ensemble or a larger brass choir similar to forces used in Summit Brass?

If you're looking forward the PJBE size group, Chester Music has a collection of items: https://www.justmusicuk.com/publication ... ategory/21" target="_blank

The above list is a general list for brass instruments . . . not specifically dealing with ensemble groups, as requested by the OP. Sorry, you will have to wade through it to find what you need, but likely it will be there.

Some of the notes are for my personal future use and are not relevant; sorry again for the clutter.

It's also possible some of the sites are not still active; things change.

One other thing; if the URL does not seem to work, play with it. For instance I just noticed that http:www.stephensonmusic does not work, but it's fine if you add .com at the end.

Why don't I edit the list? I tried, but the crazy forum software will add " target="_blank at the end of every single URL in the list if I apply an edit to any part of the post.
