Anyone have one of these? How does it compare to the original 4 valve version?
Thanks!

The model number is YCB-821 for the tuba you are asking about.
Apparently it’s much like the 821 f tuba is to the 621 F except the valve tubing is not re-routed on the C version.
They’re not too common, except for in Japan. I know of a few players that have them or have had them, but I’ll let them out themselves, but they all were fans of the way that horn played.

Thanks, Wes! I wondered if they were available in the states. Around 6-7 years ago a friend mine (here in the States) had a prototype before they added the larger bell. It was HORRIBLE. Really stuffy horn and almost unplayable. I assumed that if they went into production there would have been modifications. Recently, I was inquiring about the availability of some Yamaha parts in Japan, and found out that Yamaha is producing this instrument there now. Wasn't sure if it was available here or not, but would love to at least try one.
Thanks for the info!

Jim Self had one as well. It was for sale at Horn Guys a couple years back. I use mine daily and it’s really a versatile horn. It plays “larger” than it looks and is very mouthpiece sensitive. This is convenient depending on the situation I’m using it for.
Here’s a pic next to an Eastman 4/4:

2 TMEA's ago, I spoke with a Yamaha rep who was a manager of some sorts. I was asking him about a 621 CC with the larger bell. I told him I know this was made for some prominent tuba players in the past. I didn't ask about the 5th valve. I just wanted a larger bell on my 621. We exchanged contact info. He told me he would get get back to me, but I never heard from him and since then, I lost his contact info. I did get to connect with a former student, who is now a Yamaha sales rep., and with Al Vizzutti who happened to be there. Al and I lived together for a year at Eastman.
