Tuba mute stand????

Postby ppalan » Tue Oct 02, 2018 2:32 pm

Hi,
Has anyone come up with a better way of dealing with a tuba mute than just laying on towel (or whatever) on the floor? Is there any such thing as a tuba mute stand or has anyone concocted one? I was thinking maybe a trombone or trumpet stand with perhaps some modifications so the mute could stand up on its small end and be raised up just a bit from the floor. I tried using one of those resting tuba stands similar to the K & M laying the mute in sort of diagonally but it doesn't work to well for quick changes. Any ideas out there?
Thanks,
Pete

perhaps best if you're always gigging in the same place (or for your practice space...) but here's an idea that I've seen work with great success:
