Hi TubeNet,

From your previous experiences, which airlines have been the least troublesome to fly with tubas?

Not much use for you internally in the states, but British Airways always look after me travelling with tubas. I flew with three today, and was not charged any excess for size, despite one being a Kaiser and another a 6/4!

Put faux fur on it and say it's your service animal.

Hilarious. My wife says, yep, that's the sound she makes with the euph. (A non-musician, I'm teaching her to make noises on it as a COPD therapy.)

Delta has had issues for years, United has a bad reputation, Southwest avoided paying for the damage they did to my tuba... The best airline would be to drive in your car, in my experience.

Also no help for US domestic flying, but Lufthansa has to be sympathetic as well. They have their own employee orchestra of highly accomplished musicians.
