video/audio question/recommendations

Post by williamp »

I like to occasionally share video of a practice session with friends. I share video with my Android phone (Samsung S7), because it's super easy and instantaneous. The immediacy is a huge factor, because most of these shares are spontaneous. You simply push the button on the phone on your music stand and post the video via social media and send it off. I have no desire to edit with additional programs on a separate computer.
The problem is the sound quality of the built in mic on the phone. There's always extra noise and the video doesn't capture anything close to the true sound of the horn or the dynamics you played. Sometimes you wonder if the post was even worth sharing.
So the question is -- what is the best way to spontaneously share video from a practice session with better audio quality? It it by using an external mic directly into the phone, or should you spend the money on a wifi camera that posts directly to social media? I'm looking for the simplest, most affordable way to improve the quality of sound of a shared video. What works well for you? Again, I want to be able to share video during the session without editing.
Thanks for your input.

Two easy options are:
https://www.hickeys.com/search/products/sku122011.php
or you can use https://www.hickeys.com/search/products/sku118421.php either on it's own or as a stand alone microphone for your phone.
