Have bought another rare animal …

Reissmann 5 valve CC tuba. Height is about 40” and bell diameter 15”. The horn seems to be handmade. It is very light and here and there you can see the stitches were the brass sheets are put together .All valves and slides are working fine and the horn has a full and focused sound.

It looks as the tuba was originally built with 5 valves. The 5th valve is operated by left hand and should be a long half step?

Due to the fact that it’s written “Chemnitz” on the rim, I guess it’s made before 1953. Between 1953 and 1990 Chemnitz was named Karl-Marx-Stadt.

Here a few pics:

That's a really nice looking vintage 5v CC tuba. How is the response and pitch?
Even though it only has a 15" bell, the throat looks pretty large, as well as the outer branches. Looks 5/4 ish in size. Nice :!:

Thanks for your comment ... :D

Response is great, also pitch. I was surprised, didn’t expect these out of such an old horn.Tubing and lower bow are quite fat, so I would also rate it as a 5/4.
