Wisemann oh Wisemann

Just wanted to say that having been playing the Wisemann 900 (with MAW valves) now for a year and a half, it is a shame that Wisemann couldn't keep their act together and keep producing this horn. It is one of the finest tubas around. I like it better than the PT6P's I've played. I like it as much as anything Eastman produces. Construction quality is most excellent. Oh well.

If a used one pops up for sale, buy it.

When did they stop production on this horn? I was hoping to get one here soon.

Agree. Of all tubas I have played the last few decennia I like 2 especially: the Wisemann 900 and the Willson F ( rotary.)

I too have a wiseman with maw valves. Mine has also had the “Baer” mods. It’s the one Tom used in the Mack Brass demo video then owned by Rich Serpa of the Richmond Sympony. I have an opportunity to change to the new Eastman 6/4, but I’m not sure if I will do it. Debating.

I have heard, that Wisemann ended production, because of an agreement with B&S. True or not? Who knows more of the reasons for ending production of this great instrument?

In differences in playing or sound characteristics with the replacement pipe?
