The Wessex 6v f tuba has an incredible low register and pretty easy intonation. The sound is reminiscent of a Firebird. It’s a little small but still very pleasant. The new Eastman rotary F tuba is still in the pre-production phase but all handmade with all the best tonal character of the classic early B&S Pt 8/10 models when they were handhammered parts. The intonation is also very easy and runs mostly inline with higher end German f tubas. The low register is stable and very usable, if not currently CC tuba like. Things will probably only improve once they go into production.
The Wessex Kaiser BBb is the epitome of German rotor BBb tuba sound. I’ve only played the first two prototypes, but they were both really impressive instruments. Definitely a contender in the large BBb orchestral tuba market.
