New little horn.

I've been looking for a euphonium sort of horn. Just for church solos and for a little informal brass group I play in from time to time. I've never owned a rotary horn of my own and I like something a little different from the rest of the pack. Voila, I came across a couple of 4 valve tenor tubas, two in beautiful rose brass. Tried to buy new from a popular vendor; they charged my card immediately, couldn't supply the horn, and even after a bunch of emails it took them 10 days to refund my money. I hope that was a fluke. Anybow, enter Baltimore Brass. They had a used, 4 rotor, rose brass Jin Bao tenor tuba on-line. I called, they picked up the horn and described it over the phone, I said yes. The horn was at my door in MN in a couple of days. It was packed incredibly well, in a hard case, both horn and case look like new. They let me play it well over a week before Dave Fedderly called to ask if I like the horn. THEN they charged me. THAT is the way to do business. Oh, it even came with a bonus leather arm guard installed. The horn plays well with 3rd valve slide pulled way out, the valves are smooth and quiet, and the tone is very sweet. Will be just right for offertories. All told, I'm a happy guy. Thanks, Baltimore Brass.

If I ever play Tiptoe Thru the Tulips in it, it'll be your fault.

Brett,
So far, so good! Will try to bring it to the St. Paul Tuba Christmas next year.

Or, Tiny Tim's tuba in a version of the Christmas Carol that has Tiny Tim playing in a British Brass Band -- "Bah Hum Bug."

I called Dave the other day to order another BBC stands as someone had stolen one of mine. I asked him about a replacement cradle for the top of the stand as I was curious about the price. He informed that they have a lifetime (his) guarantee and that he would send me a new one at no charge. It took a lot of convincing one my part to get him to believe that I didn't need a new one and was just inquiring. I have purchased a Besson 983 from him and can attest to the fact that he is a great guy to deal with. Phil

It is worth it to do business with people like Baltimore Brass and Dillon. You get what you pay for in many different ways, and character does not come cheaply.
