life's simple little pleasures, and thanks to Mr. humBell

Postby bloke » Thu Jan 03, 2019 5:12 pm

For a several years, I've asked about ("wanted to buy"/"looking for"/"seeking"/etc.) some rare larger-than-typical (about the same diameter as Conn 14K/38K/etc., but their own style, and different threading) BUESCHER finger buttons.

Mr. humBell had two of them. (I had scrounged two of them.) ...so now I have a set of four. These date back nearly a century (probably 90 - 95 years), so I consider myself fortunate to have a matched set, particularly as I had already "burned up" five of them on my Buescher C helicon project two decades years ago.

There are some identical-appearance-but-smaller-diameter ones (though also obviously rare) that are much more common. Yeah...I could find those, but not these.

These will go on my (same-bore-as-the-helicon/front-action/Buescher/four-piston/front-action/.726" bore/19" upright bell/similar-bugle-taper-to-the-helicon) C "concert" tuba.

...so this long quest has ended. I'm smiling, and I'm going to screw them on to the Buescher tuba project's valve stems, BEFORE I lose one of them. Thank-you, Mr. humBell...and - btw - your thing, sir, has been sent off for plating.

...so I removed the original smaller ones and replaced them with the larger ones, which (to me) look so "right".

They are the same size...bad perspective in blokePhotography

I'll take them if they are for sale. I like those a lot and am in need of some finger buttons of that size. Please PM me if you are interested. THANKS!
TinyPic sucks. Just sayin'…

Miraphone rotor stem screws = M3.5x0.50
Miraphone cork plate screws = M2.6x0.45 (not a typo)
You're welcome.

I'll check my finger button bag. I might have 1 or 2 of those.
