Wax Cylinder Recording

HI all,

Please check this out. We recorded this onto a wax cylinder. We've gotten together a few times in the past 2 years to record this way. What you hear and see in this video is an iPhone recording which makes it sound much better than the original, but certainly not representative of the sound on all of those old recordings. We had the phone going while we recorded onto the cylinder. If we get the actual cylinder recording online, I'll paste that link here too. Enjoy. Being that we're all tuba players, I recommend using headphones to hear my tuba part.

That was great!
Thanks for sharing.
I wish more trumpet players would play cornets instead.

That was terrific. I agree on the cornet usage.

Here's a Youtube link to the actual cylinder recording we made last Sunday. Recording technology has certainly come a long way. The original recording (video) at the top of this post was recorded on a phone (iPhone), which we also had running simultaneously with the wax cylinder recording device. Below is the same recording on the wax cylinder.
