answered: simple quintet literature question

I can't imagine how this could be done successfully, at least for any listener who is already familiar with the orchestral version. Even a full concert band performance has its limitations.

Not sure what you mean by "thematic" but take a look at some of Robert Elkjer's difficult but superb arrangements. (I assume "simple" means "simple question", not "simple quintet literature')
