TC Electronics Sub'n'Up Octaver pedal

Has anybody tried the TC Electronics Sub'n'Up Octaver pedal?
I've been wondering if it can be used in a live situation to dub or replace a tenor trombone part on tuba in a horn section

The Helicon Voicetone D1 might be the better option since it has the necessary preamp/signal allignment built in:

I always love using an octaver while playing Electric bass.

I haven't tried that one, but I use an Electro Harmonix POG nano quite a bit. Especially the low octave.
I used to have a Boss octaver, but I found the EH tracks better on lower notes. Cheaper, too.
EDIT: Just re-read the OP. I think the upper octave setting sounds a bit thin and artificial to use as a trombone or euph sub. Maybe hidden in a larger ensemble would be better.
